ABSTRACT
In literature, medicinal plants including fruits and vegetables may be considered as one of the better available sources of natural antioxidants. In view of this, we evaluated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of Cucumis sativus (vegetable) and Citrus sinensis (fruit). In this study, we tested different concentration of peel aqueous extract against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl. (DPPH) for measuring its antioxidant activity and evaluated its anti-inflammatory activity against Bovine serum albumin (BSA) and also analyzing its hemolytic activity. The results of these studies which showed that aqueous peel extract of Cucumis sativus and Citrus sinensis at higher doses showed dose dependent effect as compared to control. Hence, further investigation is required particularly in the potential discovery of active natural bioactive products from fruits and vegetables.
