Hantzsch thiazole synthesis, Antimicrobial screening, Antifungal activity.

ABSTRACT

A library of isomeric pyridyl - thiazoles were synthesized by employing consecutive Hantzsch Thiazole synthesis. The antimicrobial screening of the synthesized derivatives was done against two bacterial and two fungal species. Amongst the three isomeric series, the antifungal activity order of the three series was found as 3-pyridyl > 4-pyridyl > 2-pyridyl. Compound 3f (OMe) was found to have good antifungal activity with least MIC than the standard drug.
